Difficult Behaviors

Picture

The Spectrum of Symptoms

The symptoms associated with behavioral problems usually start to appear around age 2 or 3. This can include the inability to interpret sights and sounds correctly, a resistance to normal changes in daily routines, a lack of certain motor skills, repetitive behaviors or movements, or hyper-focus on singular things as well as loud outbursts.

The Cause of Abnormal Brainwaves is Not One Dimensional

Studies have demonstrated that individuals with difficult behaviors have excessive connectivity between some areas of the brain, while showing a deficit of connectivity in others.

What is the Cause?

In short, a complex range of factors. Current research is inconclusive regarding any one main source. Some studies show an acceleration of stress to the system of a developing toddler due to toxic burdens on the body as well as various other factors. The increased burden can begin in the uterus as well as in infancy including exposure to medications, vaccines, environment, diet, family lifestyle, inflammation and genetics. Any or all of these factors can contribute to the emergence of behavioral issues.

How Does Neurofeedback Help?

Using biofeedback technology, neurofeedback training can help establish healthier brainwave patterns. Commonly, those with behavior problems demonstrate dysregulated brainwaves. Studies have shown that neurofeedback helps stabilize and improve brainwave function. When areas of abnormal connectivity are improved, outcomes are optimized.

Are There Notable Improvements?

It has been clinically observed that improvements from neurofeedback include:
  • Initiation of physical contact
  • A reduction in emotional outbursts
  • Clearer speech
  • Better response to parent and teacher instructions
  • An increase in imaginative play
  • A decrease in hyperactivity
  • Improved social skills.

Results From a Natural Approach

It is estimated that 1 out of 42 boys, and 1 in 189 girls, are experiencing behavioral issues in the United States every year. Neurofeedback therapy can naturally improve brain functionality for these people.
